B.C. credit unions announce un-merger

Last September, Westminster Savings Credit Union (55,000 members, $3 billion in assets) and Prospera Credit Union (63,000 members, $2.5 billion in assets) entered into merger discussions with the intent to join forces this spring.

But after completing their due diligence, the boards of the two B.C.-based credit unions announced that they have decided to dissolve merger discussions, with both camps agreeing that “it is in the best interest of our members and employees to pursue independent business strategies at this point in time.”◊
