New national council to help co-op FIs work together

The National Council of Canadian Co-operative Financial Institutions has been formed to identify areas where members of Credit Union Central of Canada and Desjardins Group can cooperate. Areas of focus for the council include federal government policy, technology, research, training and development.

A total of eight representatives from Credit Union Central of Canada and Desjardins Group will take part. The representatives from Canadian Central are: David Phillips, CEO and president, Canadian Central; Daniel Burns, chair of Canadian Central; Michael Leonard, president and CEO of Atlantic Central; and Brigitte Goulard, vice president, Policy, Canadian Central. Representatives from Desjardins include Monique Leroux, president and CEO of Desjardins, and members of its senior management team. The council first met last November. ◊
