Canada in top 10 for economic freedom

We live in one of the most economically free countries in the world, a new study says.

Canada ranked sixth in the 20th annual Index of Economic Freedom, handily beating out the U.S., but behind Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. Canada’s ranking is the same as last year, but its overall score improved.

Canada is one of just six economies worldwide ranked as “free”

“Canada has solidified its status as a free economy, thanks to improvement in investment freedom, the management of public spending and monetary policy,” says the index put together by the Heritage Foundation and the Wall Street Journal.

Canada is one of just six economies worldwide ranked as “free.” The U.S. fell out of the top 10, down to 12th spot, and was deemed “mostly free.” ◊
