The real value of innovation

Millennials (those born after January 1982, also known as Gen Y) value innovation in an employer. But only 26 percent of those surveyed believe their current organizations’ leaders encourage practices that foster innovation, according to the results of the Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd. global Millenial Survey , released earlier in 2013.

“Innovation at the institutional level is needed to sufficiently shift an organization’s mindset to allow new ideas to truly emerge and thrive,” says Deloitte global CEO Barry Salzberg.

As an indication of the perception among future leaders about innovation and its impact, 84 percent say business innovations have a positive impact on society. ◊
